INA Felicitation of Shri Shyam Jagannathan, IAS at DIMS 2026

At DIMS 2026. Institution of Naval Architects (INA) had the privilege of felicitating Shri Shyam Jagannathan, IAS, Director General of Maritime Administration, Government of India, in recognition of his distinguished leadership and outstanding contributions to India’s maritime sector. During his tenure, he has led maritime governance with a strong focus on technology-driven reforms, including developments in vessel regulation, seafarer certification and maritime training, while strengthening India’s representation and voice at international forums such as the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

His leadership has also been particularly significant during challenging times, with Indian seafarers and vessels facing risks amid ongoing turmoil in the Middle East and Black Sea. Through continuous monitoring, timely advisories and efforts towards the safe return of Indian seafarers from conflict-affected waters, his contribution to maritime safety and welfare has been noteworthy.

INA also deeply appreciates his invaluable support to the naval architecture and shipbuilding fraternity. The felicitation was an expression of the Institution’s respect and gratitude for his dedicated service, leadership and continued contribution towards strengthening India’s maritime sector.
